Short Biography 

Ganza Moise is an independent filmmaker, published picture book author and poet.He is the co-founder of Kiruri MFN a production company based in Kigali. He attended several writing and filmmaking workshops among them the LAFF Haile Guerima workshop.  Since 2015 has written and directed his first short film Despair. He has worked on more than 10 short films and on NAMELESS a feature Film by Mutiganda Wa Nkunda as Assistant Director. 


He has also acted in I got my Things and Left by Mbabazi Philbert and Fishbowl by Ngabo Wa Ganza. 

To date he has directed more than 8 short films, his films have screened in various film festivals worldwide including; the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, Cascade Festival of African Films, the AfrYKamera film festival, Signos de Noite, Ishango Encounters, Africa In Motion, and Hamwe Festival, like 

Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, ZIFF, Moscow International Experimental Film Festival and Exhibitions Like “International Digital Kunst Festival” and “The factory of Dreams” by Maison Beaulier. His film “Sensory Overload” won the jury’s special mention the 67th Oberhausen. 

His latest film MUZUNGA premiered at the 2022 Oberhausen international film festival. Films he produced like IMUHIRA by Birara Miriam and From Here by Remy Ryumugabe among many others, have screened at prestigious festivals like the Locarno film festival and Oberhausen international short film.

“Tears” His feature film in development won the best pitch award at the 2019 Kigali Audio  Visual Forum, leading him to attend the 70th Berlinale to pitch it in the European Film Market. Tears was selected in the 2020 Ouaga producer’s Lab. Among other projects, He is working on the post-production first feature docu-fiction film ‘Kinema’ which he co-directed with  Ryumugabe Remy and was selected for the 2020 Journees Cinematographiques de Carthage’s  Takmil post-production workshop.

Muzunga had its world premiere at the 68th Oberhausen international short film festival

2020 Sensory Overload 

Seated in a bus after a long day, a mother drifts away in her existential thoughts. Blurring time, space, and form; Sensory Overload is an audio-visual piece that explores how imagination can escape the realities around us.

Made by Ganza Moise, Sensory Overload had its world Premiere in the 67th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival where it won the International Competition Jury's Special Mention. 

2020 Limbo: 

The news of her depressed boyfriend's suicide drives Erykah into a limbo of memories, spiraling between life and death. 

Limbo was one of the winners of the first edition of the Goethe Institut Kigali's Boosting Shots Grant 

2019 Un-hack it: 

A young man is trying to get rid of his obsession with a girl, which he believes to be a hack on his brain. 

2019 Injiji: 

If words were drugs , poets were dealers who would buy their product? 

An idealist poet tries to sell his drug (esoteric secrets ) to the working class but no one has the time. 

Director Statement 

Through the three stages of using a drug,: (The pre-using anxiety, the high euphoria, and the paranoia of coming down) Injiji explores the importance of words, in our Rwandan psyche through footage of people in their daily lives(reality) in contrast with a fictional concept of an idealist poet/drug dealer trying to sell his esoteric secrets/drugs to the mass like Prometheus bringing fire to the people but no one is interested, what would he do with the fire? 

Injiji was shot 95% on a smartphone and will premiere at the 2021 Internationales Digital Kunst Festival in Frankfurt

A teenage girl struggles to literally regain her voice while silence is accepted as the common status in her surroundings.


2016 Despair: 

An eccentric young man literally plans goals for his life going to be with a lot of hope. But as time passes the hope gradually turns upside down as they fail to leave him with one decision to make

A self-made introvert shuts down his only caring friend-the neighbor- to deal with his brain tumor issue alone, she won't let go easily.
